Obituary of Lois Marguerite Thomson

THOMSON, Lois Marguerite (nee Grant) Passed away peacefully with the love and support of her family and friends on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at the St. Catharines General Hospital, in her 78th year. Lois has been reunited with Norman, her beloved husband of 56 years. Loving mother of Glenn (Margaret) of Waterloo and Donald (Lori) of Maple Ridge, B.C. Cherished grandmother of Brett and Duncan. She is survived by her sisters Joan McCauley, Carole Tucker and Ellen (Bernie) Chisholm and also by her brother in law Jerry Arnold. Lois was born in Montreal in 1932. She met her husband Norman in the R.C.A.F. reserve and married in 1954. Lois and Norman resided in Montreal until 1993 when they moved to St. Catharines. Prior to starting her family, Lois worked at Bell Canada and later she returned to work at Consolidated Bathurst retiring in 1989 as a Senior Payroll Officer. In her spare time Lois enjoyed crafts especially embroidery and bunka. Lois was also a great cook and an excellent hostess. A special thank you to the nursing staff and the doctors of the St. Catharines General Hospital for their care and support. In accordance with Lois' wishes cremation has taken place. Visitation for Lois and Norman will be held at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines, on Monday, October 4 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial ceremony celebrating Lois and Norman's lives will be held Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at 11 a.m. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Lupus Foundation of Ontario.
