Obituary of Henry Czerwoniak
CZERWONIAK, Henry
Passed away after a courageous battle on Sunday, February 3rd at the Hotel Dieu-Shaver at the age of 80.
Beloved and cherished husband of Olga for 56 years. Devoted father of Dennis (Diana), Phyllis (Darrell), Christine (Ferman) and Alicia (Rod). Much loved grandfather of Kristen, Dru and Rhyce. Also survived by his brother Michael, his nephew Darren, his brother in law Roman, and his cousins in Canada and the U.S.
Henry was born in Ukraine and lived in St. Catharines since his marriage in 1951. He worked at General Motors where he retired in 1990. He was a dedicated parishioner and volunteer at St. John Ukrainian Catholic Church, and his passions included travelling with Olga, fitness, computers and social functions. Henry was a very thoughtful and generous person who was very proud of his family and they were his life.
The family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Tuesday, February 5th from 7-9pm and Wednesday, February 6th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday, February 7th at 10 am in St. John Ukrainian Catholic Church, 91 Lakeshore Road, St. Catharines. Panachyda will be recited in the funeral home on Wednesday at 7:30pm. Rite of committal in Victoria Lawn Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations to the St. John Ukrainian Catholic Church Development Fund or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
