Obituary of Katherina (Kay) Cassie Bedford

Bedford, Katherina Cassie (Pasternak) "Kay" Born August 20, 1920 in Fork River Manitoba found Peace with our Merciful Lord on Sunday January 20, 2008 at the Hotel Dieu Shaver Hospital St. Catharines, ON. Sweetheart is now with her loving husband John William (Jack) 1975. Kay was predeceased by her parents Paul and Tekla and six siblings, Maggie, Michael, Mary, John, Ann and Walter. Kay bequeaths her beautiful and generous memories with her beloved and saddened children David (Sue) Bedford, Thompson Manitoba, Beverley (Ed) Koziej, St. Catharines, and Wayne (Neen) Bedford, Fenwick. Adored and cherished grandchildren Kristina (Michael) Ilnicki, Edwin (Sharlene) Koziej, Lorinda (Craig) Reed and Angela Koziej of St. Catharines, Noelle (Marc) St. Pierre and Joshua (Alicia) Bedford of Thompson Manitoba. Great grandchildren all under the age of 6 years, Reese, Abbigayle, Ashton St. Pierre, Brittany Bedford of Thompson Manitoba, Raymond, Danika Ilnicki, Sebastian Reed and Xander Koziej of St. Catharines. Extended family of Sarah and Peter Wheeler and children. Life long friend of Terry Borozny and Annie Pasternak and many nieces and nephews. How very blessed she was. Mom took many avenues to fulfill her life, such as a Pastry Chef, Merchant Marine, farm and factory worker, barber and tailor. Kay's proudest accomplishment was the management of her finances. Mom was the loved and respected Auntie Kay to many. Mom's creativity, humour and willingness to listen and the knowledge of family history was a magnet that drew people to her. Katherina appreciated life and took the good with the bad and she leaves us knowing she was truly loved and the BEST is yet to come. In lieu of flowers plant a tree or flowers in your garden to bring the birds and the butterflies, Kay's passion. Kay's family will receive friends at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME 585 Carlton Street St. Catharines on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A celebration of Kay's life will be held in the chapel on Thursday January 24, 2008 at 10:30 am. Interment Victoria Lawn Cemetery.
