Obituary of Anthony Arghittu

Anthony (Tony) Arghittu It is with profound sadness that our family announces that on January 9, 2008 our father, grandfather, great-grandfather passed on to be with his beloved †œTillie†� (Phyllis) who predeceased him on September 13, 2007 after 64 years of marriage. Now they are reunited for eternity. Loving father of Michael (Pat), Christopher (Suzanne) and Karren Mackenzie (deceased 1980). Devoted Papa to Rory (Elaine) Mackenzie, Krea Hunter, Dionne Mackenzie, Nicole Mackenzie, Shawndra (Lee) Kelly, Chad (Janet) Arghittu, Devon Arghittu (deceased 1976), Brendan (Krista) Arghittu and Shawn Arghittu. Proud Great Papa of Michael, Brittany, Katie, Halle, Brandon, Davin, Garrett, Maggey, Lara and Cyle. Also survived by his sister, Mary Broughton, sister-in-law Vivian Ball, many nieces and nephews and life long friends Keith & Sylvia Morris. Dad was born in St Catharines on June 19, 1922 and lived here all of his life. He was a World War 11 veteran and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 24. Dad was also a past member of the †œHappy Gang†�, the Merritton Lawn Bowling Club, the Rockway Carpet Bowling Club and the St Catharines Cribbage League. Dad worked for many years at the Ampere Electric and a further 10 years for Westinghouse. He retired at 65 and continued to work for another 13 years as a consultant for Bay Mills. He was the loving and kind patriarch of our family. He set an example as a father, grandfather and friend that we will strive to achieve. We†™ll miss you Dad! Mr. Arghittu is resting at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St. where a service to celebrate his life will be held on Sunday at 11:30am. Cremation to follow. Visiting hours are Saturday 2-4 and 7-9pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the General Hospital Building fund.
