Jay and I met in an airport over 10 years ago - both of us "fighting" for the same seat on an over-booked aircraft. It was so typical of our busy lives and Jay often joked that we would die young from the stress. I never, ever imagined that that would come true. Jay had called me the day before he left this world and, per my lifestyle, I was travelling, too busy to take the call, and planned on calling back upon my return (I guess he was right when he said we were identical). What a shock I got when I found out I could never again return the call. For that, Jay, I am so sorry, but I thank you for your support, kindness and patience over the years. I learned a lot from you and will miss not being able to continue to grow and learn from you.
I waited until now with this note as words could not, and still cannot, begin to describe the horrible sense of loss of a tremendous friend. My deepest condolences to Jay's family. It has been a terrible holiday season.

A message for Jason Jaski-
Jay.....
I was dumbfounded reading of your father's sudden passing. I was strangely just thinking of you a few weeks ago as well. I am living in Toronto now working as a funeral director and randomly read the Standard online. I know that there is nothing someone can say to relieve you at all right now, but Jay, just know that you are in so many peoples thoughts and on their minds; mine included. Give me a call at any time.. i know you're in the toronto area now and then.
Solemn regrets,
Nathan Romagnoli

Liz, my deepest and most sincere condolences to you and your family on the passing of Jay. Although we had not been in touch much since our high school rowing success of 1971, I remember Jay as being a strong willed competitor but frequently laughing and having fun often at his own expense. I have to believe he lived his entire life this way and if so he would have been an excellent husband and father.
Truly a shame that he was taken from your family and all of us at so young an age.
Best regards
Andy Van Ruyven

Our heartfelt sympathies go out to Liz, Nick and Chris and Jay's family members we hadn't had the privilege of meeting. Jay was always warm and friendly whenever our paths crossed and his enthusiasm for life touched our hearts tremendously. He was a kind and pleasant person to run into in our busy day-to-day lives and he had a special way of always making you feel good! He will be sadly missed by both of us but especially missed by our sons, Griffin and Quentin.

To the Jaski family, my deepest sympathy and prayers for God's blessing of peace and healing. Having known Jay since our university days, it was clear even then that Jay was going to be constantly challenging himself and living life with passion and purpose. Love for his family was always a strong influence in whatever he did. Even though I have been out of touch for a couple of years, I take comfort in knowing that Jay was living his life with the same passion and purpose, exactly how he loved to.

I want to express my deep sadness and shock at Jay's passing. I liked Jay very much as he always made all people feel equally important, no matter who there were or their lot in life. I worked with Jay at Octagon Capital when I joined in 2000 and have seen him from time to time since he left to start Regent. He will be very sadly missed on Bay Street both on a personal and business level.

Jason, my sincerest sympathy and condolences to you and your family. I am in shock still to hear such tragic news. I have only met your father a few times, but he left such a great impression on me. The first time I met him was at the CYSN airport when he hired me to help you guys. His manner struck me so well, that I knew I wanted to work aside this man. He was a smart man, generous and always had something nice and good to say. I see where you get that from. My heart goes out to you and your mom and your siblings.
With love, Jacque.
