Obituary of Ronald Gordon Roy

Roy, Ronald Gordon With the dignity and positive spirit that he led his life by, Ron lost the game in overtime after a courageous battle with leukemia and died peacefully on Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at Hospice Niagara at 71 years of age. A man of class and kindness he leaves behind his beloved wife Ethel and his faithful dog Chico, his loving children Rhonda and Butch and his wife Doris, and most cherished Papa to Stesha (Jeff), Jesse (Caroline) and Jackie (Dave). Dear stepfather to Michael (Joanne) Paolozzi and Elaine (Tom) Cybula and grandchildren Krysta, Kevin, Alexandra, Ashley and Annie. Dear brother of the late Earl (Terry) Roy, Marie (Bill) Brytwak and June (John) Sheehan. Predeceased by his parents Jessie and Willard Roy. Owner and operator of Ron Roy Carpet and Flooring for many years. Ron was a member of the Ontario Lacrosse Hall of Fame, a former coach in the NLL (Buffalo Bandits and Columbus Landsharks) and devoted many years as a coach in Minor Lacrosse and Hockey. Ron was a member of the Southern Ontario Thunderbird Club. Ron's family will receive friends at George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton St. on Saturday 7-9 p.m. and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Memorial Service to celebrate Ron's life will be held in the chapel on Monday at 11 a.m. Memorial Remembrances to Hospice Niagara or Old Boys Lacrosse would be appreciated by the family. A heartfelt thank you to Ron's many devoted friends, extended family, and the wonderful staff at Hospice Niagara.
