I was sad to see the notice of Charlie's passing but glad that he had enjoyed such a long and fruitful life. He gave me support and encouragement particularly during my early days in the industry. I am grateful for the privilege of having known and worked with Charlie. I offer my condolences to John, Grace and Janet, whom I met long, long ago, and to their families.
With deep sympathy, Ian Pye

My sincere condolences to the family of Charles Sankey. I knew Charlie during the 1960s when we both served on the Research Committee of the Canadian Pulp and Paper Association, I representing CIP and he the Ontario Paper Company. I particularly remember the time he arranged for our committee to hold a retreat at Baie Comeau. In between business meetings we flew in to the company fishing camp in small groups and were treated royally. We all got our limit of trout, and were able to take them home in insulated containers. It was the first and only time I ever got to a paper company fishing camp. I congratulated him when he reached the age of 100, and received a very nice handwritten note of thanks. I have very pleasant memories of my association with Charlie.

To the family of Dr. Charles Sankey:
I had the privilege of knowing Charlie as a lodge brother and of presenting him with his certificate for 80 years of membership in the Masonic Order and University Lodge No. 496 when I was Master of that lodge in 2006. My sincere condolences to the family for your loss but with thankfulness for a life of outstanding accomplishments and contribution to family, Masonry, higher education and society.

Dear Janet and Grace:
I went to school with you both, and you and I, Janet, were friends. We both had Dr. Dowling for our ARCT piano exams. Your Dad invited my Dad to join the St. Catharine's chapter of the Masons (Dr. D. Bruce Gordon). Your Dad sent me a special card when I completed my ARCT and I remember many pleasant times at your home. Your family made it feel ok for me to play classical music. And when I lived in Toronto you visited me a few times (after having moved to Boston).
I have fond memories of you and your family in St. Catharines and I'm happy to hear that he lived such a long and successful life, loved by his family and friends. I'm glad that he I read his obituary in the Globe today and hope you're all doing well.
Best regards,
Janet (Gordon) Jacobson

As long time members of the Brock University Community who knew Charlie when he was Chancellor of Brock University, and who for many years was a neighbour of ours on South Drive, we wish to express our sincere condolences to the Sankey family on the loss of Charles. He was an inspiration to all of us on how to grow old gracefully and usefully.

St.Catharines has lost a giant among men. I feel fortunate for having known Dr.Sankey. He and my late father Ben Newman volunteered their time to create Brock University. They and so many other capable people believed with all their hearts that the Niagara Peninsula deserved a great university.
It was a fitting tribute to Dr.Sankey's intellecutal power that he was appointed Chancellor of Brock. I remember his total devotion and pride of Brock(as well as his bushy eyebrows).
I only hope that Brock pays tribute to him. He so richly deserves it.
