Obituary of Joan Mary Winmill

WINMILL Joan Mary (Nee: Brodhurst) Died peacefully at home with her children at her side, on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at the age of 73. Beloved and devoted wife of the late Thomas (2001). Dear mother of Dennis and his wife Anne Marie of Oakville, David and his wife Laura of Halifax, Catherine and her husband Warren Saunders of St. Catharines, and Paul and his wife Heather of Burlington. Nana will be lovingly remembered by Jennifer and her husband Lindsay Haley, Mark and Allison Winmill, Jessica and Jasmine Winmill; Sean Saunders, Chris Saunders and his wife Amalia; Ian and Claire Winmill and by her great-grandchildren, Natalia Saunders and William Haley. Dear sister of Monica and her husband Lloyd Simmonds of Port Colborne, Theresa Weaver and Henry of Welland, Clem Brodhurst and his wife Nancy of Stoney Creek and the late Harry Brodhurst. She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews. Joan was a founding member of St. Julia Church and a member of the choir since the parish was formed, a former volunteer with Association for Community Living and the Hotel Dieu/Shaver Hospital. Friends may call at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St. on Saturday from 7-9pm and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in St Julia Church on Monday April 6, 2009 at 10:30am. Rite of committal will take place in Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Vigil prayers will be held in the funeral home on Sunday at 2pm. Memorial remembrances to the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation or the St Catharines General Hospital Oncology Clinic.
