Obituary of Brittany Lynn McMullen

MCMULLEN, Brittany - After a courageous 2-year battle with bone cancer Brittany passed away at home with her Mom, Dad and her puppy Emma at her side on March 11th, 2009 at the age of 21. Brittany is survived by her Mom Sherri, Dad Tim, her granddad Gary and his wife Anne, her grandma Pat and her friend Louie, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and three great grandparents. Brittany attended Sheridan Park Public School from JK to grade 8 and was a graduate of Lakeport Secondary School before attending Niagara College in the Educational Assistant Special Needs program. She was in her last semester when she was diagnosed but was still able to graduate with her class in 2007.Brittany was employed as a part time page at the downtown branch of the St. Catharines Public Library until her illness. We would like to thank the staff of St. Elisabeth and CCAC especially Brittany's home care nurse Sharlene and case manager Andrea for all of their help, we will never forget either of you and everything you did for Brit! Thank you to her PSW's Ashley, Marilyn and Elma for your help and companionship. Thank you to Dr. Kerley and all the staff (especially Laurie & Cathy) at Hospice Niagara for everything. We would also like to thank the two Karens at the McMaster Heart Function Clinic for all of their help and hard work. Thank you to Ann the Chaplin and Richard at Juravinski Cancer Centre in Hamilton, you both were the strength we needed to get through all of the difficult treatments. Thanks to all of her friends, your visits and messages over the last two years meant so much to Brit! Brittany has gone to join her Grandma Betty McMullen and Grandpa Tom McMullen in heaven who we know will take good care of her. Brittany is resting at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL Chapel,585 Carlton Street, St.Catharines. The family will receive visitors on Friday from 2-4p.m. & 7-9p.m. A Funeral Service will take place on Saturday in the funeral home chapel at 12:30p.m. Interment at Victoria Lawn Cemetery to follow. Donations to Hospice Niagara or the McMaster Heart Function Clinic would be appreciated by the family.
