Obituary of Ted Howe

HOWE, Kenneth Edward "Ted" (1930-2009) Passed away peacefully on January 12, 2009, after a brief illness, with his beloved Lillian by his side. Predeceased by his son Tim (1996). He will be sadly missed by his children Ted (Vija), Cathy (John ) Martin, Carol-Anne (Barry) Burkholder, Colleen (Gino) Paolone, Christine (Mario) Prudente, Tom (Anne). Also remembered by 17 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. Predeceased by brothers, Paul and Justin, sisters-in-law Lillian and Carmel, and remembered by brothers Bill (Rose), Gerry and sisters-in-law Mamie and Ann. Ted will also be remembered by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ted excelled in sports, especially lacrosse which he played for over 30 years. He was a member of the Canadian and Ontario Lacrosse Halls of Fame and the St. Catharines Sports Hall of Fame. He was a Past President of the St. Catharines Old Boys Lacrosse Association and a long time member of St. Denis Parish. His greatest accomplishment however, was his family. They enjoyed their many family gatherings and vacations together. He was man of quiet dignity and patience with a keen sense of humour. Ted's family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Wednesday, January 14th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday, January 15th at St. Denis Roman Catholic Church, 230 Lake Street (corner of Lake St. and Carlton St.), St. Catharines at 11am. In accordance with his wishes, cremation will follow the service and there will be a private inurnment at a later date. If desired, memorial donations to the St. Catharines Old Boys Lacrosse or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family. Many thanks to the hospital staff of the St. Catharines General Hospital ER Department and C3W for all their kindness.
