Obituary of Robert Gordon Ford

FORD, Robert Gordon Passed away after a brief illness and while surrounded by his loving family on Friday, January 2nd, 2009 at the Hamilton General Hospital in his 76th year. Devoted husband of 48 years of Norma Lee and beloved father of Linda (Laverne) Shevalier. Much loved grandfather of Rodney (Wendy), Richard (Michelle), Terry (Andrea), Leslie (Glenda) Malcolm, Joanne and Cheryl, and great grandfather to many great grandchildren. Also survived by his brothers and sisters Bill (Freda), Irene (Lawrence) Surridge, Sandy (Moe) Smith, Ken (Barb) and Larry, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by his parents Vic and Evelyn, children Brenda Malcolm and Ken Stephens and brothers Vic, Percy and Roy. He will be sadly missed by his wife and family. Robert sailed on the Great Lakes for over 40 years as an Engineer. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Robert's family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Thursday, January 8th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday, January 9th at 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated by the family.
