It is with great sadness that we announce after a courageous battle, the passing of Brian John Burke, in his 56th year, on December 26, 2008. Brian passed peacefully at the Niagara Health System-St. Catharines site, surrounded by his family and friends. He leaves his beloved wife Melissa (nee VanderMeer), his daughter Alicia (Belushak †" Burke) and his son Deryck Burke. Brian also leaves behind his brother Doug (Sandra) of Port Hope, and his sister Linda (Colin Holder) of St. Catharines. Brian was predeceased by his parents John and Marguerite. He will be greatly missed by his nieces and nephews as well as his father and mother in law, Cor and Chris VanderMeer and his sister in law and brother in law Rachel and Paul Stuchberry of St. Catharines.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Clark and nurse Susan of the Juravinski Cancer Clinic, as well as Dr. Child and the nursing staff of the Palliative Care Unit, of the Niagara Health System-St. Catharines site.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to George Darte Funeral Chapel 585 Carlton St. visitations are Tuesday December 30, 2008 from 2 -4 and 7-9 p.m. A celebration of Brian's life will be held in the George Darte Funeral Chapel on Wednesday December 31, 2008 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the Juravinski Cancer Care Clinic, http://www.jccfoundation.on.ca/donations/index.shtml
