VAN LANKVELD, Aloysius (Louis) - Peacefully with his family at his side on Friday, December 19th, 2008 at Linhaven Home for the Aged, in his 88th year. Predeceased in 2000 by his loving wife Henrica (Rita). Dear father of Joanne Eidt (Mark), Jane Sneek (John), John (Yvonne), Carla Sneek (Jerry), Henry (Gina), Bernadette Coyne (Paul), Frank (Jackie), Christine Buckley (Mike), and Sharon Goossen (Terry) , all from the Niagara Region. He will be deeply missed by 26 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Louis was predeceased by 14 siblings, all in Holland. He will be greatly missed by many friends and family. Born in Erp, Holland, Louis immigrated to St. Catharines with his wife Rita on August 25, 1951. He worked at Tregunno Farms and Court Radiator before he began his 33 years of dedicated service at General Motors, retiring in 1985. Louis inspired his family and led them by example through his solid faith and unwavering values. Louis is resting at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street. The family will receive visitors on Monday from 2-4p.m. & 7-9p.m. Vigil prayers will take place on Monday at 3p.m. in the funeral home. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Alfred's Church on Tuesday at 9:30a.m. Rite of Committal at Victoria Lawn Cemetery to follow. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Mount Carmel Home would be appreciated by the family. Many thanks to the dedicated staff at Linhaven for their exceptional care. Good night, Dad. Your worries are over. You will be forever in our hearts and finally back with Mom.
