We are at a lost for words. This message comes a month after your father's passing. We just found out minutes ago. We are shocked to say the least. Both Bob and I worked with Larry, but Bob was his childhood friend until life took them on seperate paths. May you find peace with the memories you have of your time together. Our sincere condolences to the Hubbard family.

I met Larry through his sister Carolyn when she and I were in Grade 13 together. We were also in teachers' college at Brock together. I remember him well, and have often wondered how his life went. I was 18, and he was 20, and even at that time he had a boat. He also had a white sports car.I have been back in St. Catharines now for over a year after living in Vancouver most of my adult life. I had asked people if they knew of Larry Hubbard, and one of them showed me the obituary in the Standard. Even though it was long ago when Larry and I were friends, I wanted to say how sorry I am and how nice it was to read the condolences and know how respected he was by those who worked with him and knew him.

Dear Laura, I was so very sorry to hear about the passing of your dear father. My brother-in-law, John Pisano, worked with him at GM and let me know. I share in your sorrow as my dearly loved mamma passed away suddenly on November 16th. She died almost instantly of a catastrophic stroke. I am off for some time as her passing has been most difficult especially since it came unexpectedly and only 16 months after dad passed away. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Keep busy with your family and find comfort in spending time out with friends. Sincere condolences, Maria B.

Please accept my deepest sympathy at the loss of your father. I worked with him at the Ontario Street Plant for a number of years. He always conducted himself with the utmost professionalism and was always a gentleman. I hope that he was able to enjoy the few years of retirement that he had. May your memories of him stay vivid.

"I'm Gonna Tell"
I'll always remember Larry for his patience with my sister Melanie and I while he was dating Nancy. We were 6 & 8 at the time and provided quite a challenge to Nancy and Larry's attempts to catch a few moments alone. I'm sure there were countless occasions because Larry started paying us to go away; this might have had something to do with our carefully planned release of the laundry chute over their heads as they cuddled on the couch downstairs, or maybe it was afer we started a fire in the livingroom and he rushed to our rescue. At any rate, he never raised his voice as he emptied his pockets of quarters and chocolate bars. The last time I saw Larry he delighted in telling my children the story of how he & Nancy thought they were alone at the cottage and were just getting cozy when a little voice came from out of nowhere yelling, "I'm gonna tell". He had no idea where I was but soon discovered I was looking through an air vent from the upper level bedroom. He managed to catch me by the scruff of my neck just as I was running to my parents' room.
I also remember so clearly the day Larry came running up the driveway to tell us that his "little princess" Laura had been born. I'd never seen him so animated and excited as he described every one of her sweet little features. And then the little red-headed, freckle-faced Brad arrived; a chip off the ole' block, and the source of many great stories and good times himself.
Our greatest legacy is our children, and Larry has reason to be very proud of the fine people Laura and Brad have grown up to be, raising sweet children of their own with Neil and Lisa.
Farewell Larry. May you rest in peace.
Corinne

Larry my rescuer!!
When I was in Grade 3, Larry came to my rescue two times! We lived in a home on Ontario Street in St. Catharines. It's a parking lot now, but back then, it was a really cute story and a half house on a large ravine lot. My parents were out and Nancy was babysitting Corinne and I. She was dating Larry at the time and telephoned him to let him know of the destruction I had caused on two separate occasions to our rented home.
He came to the rescue when I broke the glass of the screen door with a fast baseball (I probably could have got a home run, had I not heard the shattering of glass) and the other time was when I set fire to the living room rug (I was simply checking with a piece of paper whether the red coil on the electric fireplace was just red or if it was really hot. It was hot! It was so hot, it immediately caught fire to the paper, which I quickly dropped from my small hands in flames to the floor, thereby catching the carpet on fire).
Both times, Larry came to the house, the first time with a new piece of glass for the storm door and the next time he came with some special solution to get the black burns out of the carpet before my parents noticed. He was my hero then. He never yelled or scolded me as I recall, just saved my skin for which I was very grateful.
Larry was a good brother in-law, he married my sister Nancy when I was in Grade 5 and they had dated for a few years before that. He has been apart of my life for a long time. Larry was always pleasant to me, polite and friendly, I always enjoyed watching Larry and Nancy dance together, they could dance up a storm anytime, anywhere! I remember the beautiful white fur coat he bought Nancy one Christmas. It seemed very luxurious to me, and they both seemed to be pleased with it, until Nancy was sneezing every time she wore it and it had to be returned. When Larry became a father to Laura and Brad, I was so impressed with the time he spent with them, totally focused on them - their efforts were important to him. He gave his time with them during homework, and with their passion for sports. To me, he was calm and steady and focused on his family. Summers were all about boating, skiing and fishing, family and friends.
As we all got older and I had children of my own, Larry became the Uncle who listened to my children and gave them personal attention as well. From holding them as babies to conversing with them as they got older. He liked the one on one conversations, didn't command the attention of the entire group, but would cosy up to us and talk one on one, asking questions about what was going in on our lives. I liked talking with Larry. He listened, was interested in what others had to say and gave good advice when asked for.
Larry will be missed by all, and is fondly remembered by this sister-in-law for sure.
Love to Nancy, Laura and Brad, may you feel the strength of loving and pleasant memories. Love to Larry, may you feel peace, tranquility, love and joy, wherever you are.
