Obituary of Joan Backshall

BACKSHALL, Joan (nee Baker) - Passed away on Thursday, December 31st, 2009 at her residence at the age of 82. Beloved wife of the late Bill. Predeceased by her brothers and sisters. Joan will be sadly missed by her many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Mrs. Backshall was the faithful and loyal housekeeper of Reverend M. Fernback for 41 years. She was an active member of the Catholic Womens League for over 40 years. Joan is resting at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton street, St Catharines. The family will receive visitors on Sunday from 2-4p.m. & 7-9p.m. Vigil prayers will take place at 3p.m. in the funeral home. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at Cathedral of St. Catharine of Alexandria on Monday at 10a.m. Rite of Committal at Victoria Lawn Cemetery to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. Vincent de Paul Society would be appreciated by the family.
