Obituary of Roelof Thomas Bakker

BAKKER, Roelof (Rudy)- Passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 12th, 2013 at St. Catharines Place in his 87th year. Husband of Betty. Cherished father of Elisabeth - Els (Jack) Burghout and Jake (Janet) Bakker. Step father of Brian (Lori) Toth. Loving grandfather of Josh, Amanda, Kristen, Carly and Jalen. Great grandfather of Hailey. He will be sadly missed by his sisters Rie and Corrie both of the Netherlands. Rudy was employed for 30 years at General Motors. He loved playing sports, especially golf. The family wish to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Diane Walser-Jebb, and all the wonderful staff at St. Catharines Place for all their care and compassion.The family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Wednesday from 2-4p.m. & 7-9p.m. A Celebration of Rudy's Life will take place on Thursday at 11a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. Catharines General Hospital Foundation- Tour Du Lac or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
