Obituary of Anton Roskar
ROSKAR, Anton
Passed away suddenly at home on Saturday, October 10, 2009 in his 85th year. Sadly missed by his daughter Tomi (Alan) Hunter and by his son Andre (Annette). Loving grandpa of Michael (Beth), Kelly (Blair) Smith, Aaron, Jared and great grandfather of Amelia. He leaves his best friend Milica Roskar and his sisters Maria (Frank) of Austria and Agnes of Slovenia. Anton was born June 14, 1925 in Slovenia and after serving in the war, immigrated to Canada. He worked in the mines in Timmins before making St. Catharines his home. He was a retired employee of Noranda Paper after 26 years and was a founding member of Lipa Park and also served as a past president of Slovenian National Home. A heartfelt thank you to his loyal and wonderful neighbours Alex and Lucy. Thank you to Dr.Teodorini and Dr. Minkarious for their excellent and compassionate care of our father and to the staff and nurses at the Hotel Dieu Dialysis Unit. Mr. Roskar's family will receive friends at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Alfred's Church, 272 Vine St., on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. The Rite of Committal to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Vigil prayers will be celebrated in the funeral home on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. If desired, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Hotel Dieu Dialysis Unit or to the Kidney Foundation.
