It is with sadness that we announce the sudden death, on Wednesday November 3 2010, of our beloved Robert, in Yellowknife, NWT., at the age of 49. He is survived by his dear son Robert Antoine Chasse-Rochefort of Edmonton, AB and his loving parents, Claire Cauchy of Ottawa and Jacques Rochefort Sr., of St. Catharines. Deeply mourning his loss are his siblings: Lise (Adrian Jones) of Ottawa; Jacques Jr. (Sharon Bauming) of Edmonton, AB; Marc (Shelley Lunny) of St. Catharines; Janice (late Irving Miller) of Ottawa; Carole (James Kay) of St. Catharines and Sylvie (Trevor Makara) of Santa Monica, CA. Also mourned and missed by Charlene Chasse and family of Welland. Robert will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and countless cousins from Qu©bec to Alberta. He will also be greatly missed by many dear friends (including his best friend Chip Dufrat and family) and cherished former extended family members.
Before moving to Alberta in 2006, Robert (Boo) was employed by Rankin Construction in St. Catharines, for 23 years. An active member of his trade union, Robert later became a supervisor and an industrial safety specialist yet still found time to give back to his community. He was a strong supporter of the CYO Minor Hockey League where he coached hockey for many years. A generous and loving person, he called and e-mailed home often, never saying goodbye without adding a heartfelt "J't'aime!" or "Love you!"
Robert's family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St Catharines, on Wednesday, November 10th, from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, November 11th at 11am. Cremation will follow the service with inurnment at a later date in the Rochefort family ancestral plot in Astorville, Ontario. In memory of Robert Andr©, donations to the charity of your choice or an environmental organization would be greatly appreciated by the family.
