Obituary of Violet Langeard

Violet Barbara Louise Langeard (nee Fester) December 5, 1921 - November, 9 2010 It is with deep sadness the family announces her passing on November 09, 2010 while a resident at the Westpark Health Centre. Violet touched many hearts with her generosity and compassion and will live on through her daughter Sylvia, sisters Arlene Haskin, Florence Passingham and Edna (Don) Spencer, grand-daughters, Brianna and Kimberley, great grandson, nieces, nephews and many good friends. Violet is pre-deceased by husband Thomas, brother Fred Fester and sisters Bernice Knox and Arvada Benson. Violet was born in Beamsville, Ontario and grew up in the Niagara Region. Violet served as an Ambulance Driver for the Canadian Red Cross during World War Two and lived her life with much passion and commitment to the welfare of others. At War's end, she married her long-time pen-pal, Thomas, and remained at his side until his passing in March of 1995. Violet enjoyed nature walks, reading and antiquing and her favorite passion was the beautiful gardens she created each year. A special thanks to Violet's nieces, Connie Benson and Penny Hallett (Tim) for years of loving care and for keeping the family connected. Much appreciation is also extended to nurse Jan Pullar for her love and kindness in Vi's final years and to the dedicated and caring staff at Westpark Health Centre, for making her a special part of their family. George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton St. St. Catharines have been entrusted with the arrangements for Mrs. Langeard. In keeping with her wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of Violet's life will be held at St. George's Anglican Church, 83 Church St, St. Catharines, at 11AM Saturday, November 13th. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations to the Canadian Red Cross Society.
