Chicken in the Bucket
You never knew what he would do to make you laugh, but he did some funny things like the day he was over and he had a bucket of Kentucy Fried Chicken and he asked me I wanted a pc and I said sure. I went and lifted the lid off of it and went to reach in the bucket and I screamed. He had a real chicken in there. Thats my Uncle Stewart for ya.....

Cindy your right.
Cindy I never knew about your bullying incident but it sure brought back a good memory.Your Mother was taking a driving class at Eastdale and someone bullied her. When I took Stewart to the school the next day,you were right a man of few words. All I heard was "which one is he".You's know the rest.

Stewart volunteered for a while at the Hope Centre in Welland .We got along really well. He was very helpful and full of fun with a love for lasagna .I made sure he got some if we had it for lunch. Alas, no one told us he became ill or we would have sent a get well card so he knew he was remembered. Please know that we liked him and appreciated him.

The Star
thirty five years ago, when Danny died, Stewart, wrote this poem, I am not sure if he read it or it was from his heart I have cherished it and now Stewart this is for you. Love you.
Here today and gone tomorrow.
Leaving behind memories and sorrow.
His time has come they always say.
But the happy moments will not fade away.
And now he's gone, God chose the best.
To watch from Heaven on all the rest.
That little star that shines so bright.
Will lead you through those dull dark nights.
And when someday your time has come.
To be together up there above.
Dollie

Sorry to hear about Stewart. We are not able to attend the service, wish we were able to, just to reconnect with the family, many of whom we have not seen for a few years.
Our thoughts will be with you on Thursday, as the passing of a youngest brother has to be most difficult.
Love to the whole family, from Dave and Connie

My Hero
I had just moved to St. Catharines to live with my brother Eddy and his wife Dee. I was the new kid at Laura Secord Highschool and while I had already made some life long friendships - I was still trying to find my way. Anthony was top dog at Secord. All the guys wanted to be like him and all the girls had a crush on him. (except me) Anthony had a wondering eye and someone told his current girlfriend - it wasn't me but Anthony thought it was. So he pushed me - right there in the smoking area he pushed me and threatened me..... Big Mistake!
I went home that night and after some consideration I called Stewart. A man of few words, he said he'd take care of it. He hitch-hiked to St. Catharines and showed up at school the next day. I can still see him walking across the field - spikey blonde hair, big platform shoes and a long black trench coat. (this was pre-Matrix) He was the coolest of cool. When we got to school he asked "Which one is he?"
"Just don't hurt him Stewart" I repeated this several times, now having second thoughts about my call for help. When Anthony saw him coming, and his face dropped and went pale. Anthony was a big guy but he looked like a rag doll when Stewart grabbed him and pinned him up against the locker. "You ever touch my sister again and I'll rip your arm off and shove it down your throat." Anthony shook his head in understanding as sweat dripped down his forehead. For a split second I felt bad for Anthony, his legs dangling inches off the floor. But he was a Bully and he pushed the wrong person. At that time Mr. Cricorian the Gym Teacher walked by but backed up and let things transpire. Stewart let him down and while all his friends looked on smirking, Anthony vowed that he would never touch me or any of my friends again.
By now Stewart had an entourage and a group of friends followed us back through the field laughing about the look on Anthony's face. True to his word - Anthony never touched me again - come to think of it - most boys in highschool didn't come near me. I was "Stewart's Sister" - the name I left behind in Welland had followed me to St. Catharines.
He was my Hero that day and has been ever since.

K-mart
Jay you brought back some good memories.K-Mart was by far the best. One day my car was in the body shop and they gave me a brand new Buick regal rental.Stew had to go to Zellers and I told him to take the car.About 20 min.later I heard this loud noise.Me and Gran were on the patio and all we seen was the car go right by us and stop in the back yard with only 3 wheels left on it.He had an accident on memorial park drive and Gran and I couldn't stop laughing because to this day we don't know how he drove it home all that way with only 3 wheels. But nothing beats K-Mart and never will. That was Gran's favorite to,now there's only two of us left to hold that secret.Did the 4 of us laugh that night eh!

Wrestling
At the old Welland Arena, we went to see the Sheik wrestle. Stewart convinced Eddie Swioklo to jump in the ring with the Sheik. Eddie got a clothesline right away and we howled. Never forgot that. Also swimming at the train bridge and fries at the Blue Star after or Sunnyside Dairy cones. Those were good days . Rest well Stewart.

take the car
When I was 17, I needed a ride across town. I asked uncle Stew and he said take the car, "his brand spankin new firefly." I can't drive a standard I told him. He then took me around the block and "taught" me to drive standard. Even after all my gear grinding and stalling of the engine, he said good enough and told me to take the car and get lost. Well after some trying, the car and I made it back in one piece.
Then there is the 21 speed bike he lent me. The first time I borrowed it someone scoffed it from me. 20 years later and he would still bring up the bike I lost.
Then there was K-MART.

Tatoo
I will never forget, during a phone conversation in the Lobby at the Atlas Hotel, The door opened and low and behold here was Stewart, laughing at someone, and then yelled something, and before I knew it, his pants were pulled down, and he had pulled a moon to show off that he was a Canadian, by showing a the Canadian flag that was tattooed on his butt... I laughed so hard, and dropped the phone.

You know of course that our hearts are with you. We go back so many years, with so many memories. Perhaps Stewart was the one I knew the least. Pat, Diane, Cindy, bigguy, memories away. I am so happy Deb that we have been able to maintin our friendship. So many things have changed in my life. I know you have suffered loss in the past. The loss of my parents has saddened and changed me, and I truly know now what that loss can mean. You have been a sister and a friend, a supporter and a caregiver to Stewart. As they say, he's at peace in a better place. Whether we believe that or not, we are better for knowing him. John was taken aback at the loss. He never knew him, but he honours the pain of loss with friends and family. I offer our prayers for you and family and hope that in living we never forget the value of life and the importance of family.
my regards
always

Who else would do this?
Stewart and I were in Birch Correctional Center togeather (on differant matters)and it just so happened we went up for parole on the same day,and what was more ironic was that we went up one after another.Stewart went first and about 5 mins.later came out and said they denied. As long as I live I'll never forget what the parole board said to me when I sat down. They said Stewart must care a lot about me and I ask why. They said after he was denied he stood up and said the next person was Al Clark and ask if they would grant me parole because his Mother needed me at home.I truly believe it was because of that I was granted parole. That's the type of heart this man had. Thanks Stew. Now you get to go home with Momma first.
