Obituary of Shirley Lauretta Bates
BATES, SHIRLEY (FIGGINS)
Passed away peacefully on July 3, 2010 at Leamington District Memorial Hospital at the age of 77 after a short stay at Royal Oak Long Term Care Centre in Kingsville to be closer to family during a difficult battle with Parkinson†™s Disease, though she has left us much too soon. Wife of the late Gerard Bates (2001). She leaves behind her brother John & sister-in-law Mary Ann Figgins. Dearest aunt of Wayne & Marisa Figgins, Gary & Lili Figgins and Alan & Nancy Figgins. Loving great-aunt of Erica Figgins & Lauren Figgins. Shirley was a proud, long-time employee of the CIBC bank for over 40 years. She loved her animals, the bus trips with her lady friends, shopping, and lasagna at Frado†™s. She was a lovely lady with a wonderful wit and sense of humour that stayed with her until the very end. Visitation will be held at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., on Wednesday evening from 7-9 p.m. A celebration of Shirley's life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and as an expression of sympathy, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Lincoln County Humane Society. A special thank you to Shirley†™s friends and neighbours for their care and concern as her health declined over the past few years. We†™ll miss you Auntie Shirley.
