Obituary of William Harold German

GERMAN, WILLIAM (Bill) Passed away peacefully at the St. Catharines General Hospital at 74 years of age, on Saturday May 15th, 2010. Husband and best friend of Mary Ann for 53 years. Loving father of three boys, Bill (Tracy), Terry (Lynne), and Robert (Carol). Cherished "Poppa" of Willy, Hilary, Emma, Katie, Isabelle and Jack. Survived by his sisters Doris Bartolini and Margaret Pikor. Predeceased by his sister Ruth Van Nest and brother Ron German. Bill will be fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, family and friends for his energy, wit and passion for life. Bill dedicated his entire professional career to General Motors of Canada advancing through various roles over his 46 years at the Engine Plant in St. Catharines. Bill became an expert in the areas of pneumatics and hydraulics as a Plant Engineer. Bill was a passionate hockey player, coach and dad. He grew up playing hockey in St. Catharines through the midget and juvenile levels, followed by several years in the Lincoln league. Bill coached minor hockey for over 20 years in St. Catharines including his 3 boys. Bill loved the game of golf, playing in retirement "on days that end in 'y' " with his friends as a member of Queenston Golf Club. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St. on Tuesday from 4 - 8 pm. A memorial mass will be celebrated in St. Denis Church on Wednesday at 10:30 am. Memorial remembrances to the Parkinson Society of Canada or Breast Cancer Research would be appreciated by the family.
