Obituary of Janusz Thomas Bucko

BUCKO, Janusz Thomasz February 10, 1925- May 4, 2010 It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing away of Janusz Thomas Bucko at the age of 85 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Elliot Lake. Beloved husband and companion of 61 years of Halina. Loving father of Richard and Monique Bucko and Donna Wronski (Walter). Cherished grandfather of Michelle and Todd Boisvert, Christopher and Barbara Bucko, Michael Wronski and Fiancee Flora Mak, Leah Bucko and Fiancee Tim Sullivan and Danielle and Brian Novogradac. Special great grandfather of Chloe and Alexander, Ethan, Michaela, Neve, Aiden and Grayson. Brother of Lucy Rusnak (Barrie). Stanislawa Puchalska and Matilda Szelag (Poland). Janusz will be sadly missed by numerous friends, nephews, nieces and extended family. Janusz was well known and involved in several Canadian and Polish organizations as well as a leading member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish. He was past president of the National Polish Combatants Association Canada Inc, as well as the Canadian Polish Congress and the Polish Combatants Association Br. 27. He was the recipient of several awards for his outstanding work and dedication throughout his lifetime including silver crosses of merit from the Polish Combatants Association and decorated with the highest Polish honour - Polonia Restituta. Janusz Bucko will be resting at the George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 5 Oblate St., Saturday May 8 at 10:00 a.m. Rite of Committal to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Visitation Friday May 7 from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. Vigil Prayers will be held in the funeral chapel on Friday at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution to either the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Parkinson's Association would be appreciated by the family. A Memorial Service will be set at a later date in Elliot Lake at Our Lady of Fatima Church.
