Obituary of Anne Lillian McCann

McCANN, Anne (Wood) Passed away peacefully and with her loving family by her side, on April 1st, 2013 at Linhaven Home for the Aged. She celebrated her 96th birthday three weeks ago, and is now with her husband Harry (1987) and granddaughter Gillian (1980). Loving mother of Jackie Forrest and Tim (Lynn). She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren David (Cathy), Karen (Angela), Michael (Cheryl) and Patrick (Sandrina) and her great grandchildren Nicolas, Zachary, Maizey, Wesley and Clayton. Also survived by sister-in-law Alice Wood and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Predeceased by her parents Elmer and Olive, brothers Russell and Ray, sisters Elma and Florence and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Mom spent many years as the Office Manager for Drs. McSween and O'Halloran but spent most of her life dedicated to her family. She enjoyed having deep conversations about current affairs and passing on to her family her values of respect and perserverance, as well as her sense of humour. In her spare time, she found time to bowl and golf and was quite proud of getting a hole in one. Her family will miss her a lot. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of Linhaven for the care they gave to Mom over the last 14 years. At Mom's request, cremation has taken place. Anne's family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Thursday, April 4th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Niagara would be appreciated by the family.
