Memorial donations may be made to the Charity of One's Choice. Agatha (deHaas) Reuvekamp was born in Noordwijk erhout, Holland on October 14, 1928. She was the eldest of 7 children for Marinus and Antje (Kloek) deHaas. She spoke often of the times endured during the war when her father was taken away to work in German factories. At the age of 25, she boarded the Groote Beere for a 10 day sailing to Montreal, Canada to reunite with Walter and the Reuvekamp family who had emigrated earlier. They married and had two sons Ron and Tony and later two grandsons Derek and James, which were her life. They enjoyed travelling together and their visits to and from Holland where all of Agatha's family remained. She was very devoted to caring for Walter when his health failed, and after his passing in 1996. She took on volunteering at Albright Manor and adopted her cat Sara to give her purpose. When her own health started to fail, the transition was easier as she and Sara moved into Albright Manor in 2002. She was able to continue her daily walks and trips to New Brunswick to visit her son and grandsons, and a special trip to Holland in October 2003 where she was able to get together one last time with her five brothers and one sister for her 75th birthday. Her sister Gree passed away shortly thereafter. She also enjoyed chats and visits with her childhood friends Els in London, Ontario and her niece Ria and family in Holland. IN May 2009, her grandson Derek and his wife Kara made a trip from New Brunswick with their 8 day old daughter to present Agatha with her first great-granddaughter. It was truly a special weekend to see the smile on her face as she held Tayla and rocked her to Dutch lullabies. The family appreciates all the care given to Agatha at Albright Manor, and a special thank you to volunteer Bev Myers who showed her so much kindness in her time there. It is right to weep and mourn but not for thyself - for they have gone to a better place. The tears release the tension: take courage - remember happy days you shared - and though you are sad, Carry on as they would have you, living, laughing, caring. God is with you though you may not know it, He will help you through your lonely days, just open your heart and let Him come in.
