Obituary of Antonio (Tony) Di Maurizio
Di Maurizio, Antonio (Tony) September 19, 1959 - Feb. 21, 2013 - On Thursday morning surrounded by his devoted family at the Credit Valley Hospital at the age of 53 years, passed away peacefully in his sleep after a valiant 8 year battle against cancer. An amazing husband, incredible father, a caring son, a loving brother and a loyal friend as well as a "great man." Tony will always be lovingly remembered by his wife Annamaria (nee Torelli) for over 31 years and their beautiful jewels, Lisa (fiancee Eric Carlomusto), Mara and Romina. Survived by his loving mother Lucia and his siblings Sandra (Tony) Rocco, Maurizio (Diane), and Adriana (Angelo) Boccia. He will be sadly missed by his mother-in-law Stella Torelli and brothers-in-law Mario (Tami) Torelli, Carlo (Jennifer) Torelli and his many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins both here and in Italy. Predeceased by his father Mario Di Maurizio (1977) and father-in-law Tullio Torelli (2006). Tony will be fondly remembered by all that knew and respected him as a co-worker and friend at General Motors for 29 years.
Family will receive friends at the George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton Street on Saturday between 5-8pm and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9pm. Vigil Prayers will be held on Sunday at 3:45pm. Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11am on Monday at St. Alfred's Church, 272 Vine Street with entombment to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Catharines General Hospital - Walker Cancer Centre or Rankin Cancer Run in honour of Tony.
