Obituary of William Ross
ROSS, William "Billy"
William (Billy) Ross, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on December 30th, 2012, at the age of 64. Best friend and husband of Jayne for 34 years and loving father to his cherished sons Malcolm and Tim and daughter Tracey. Predeceased by his son Tristan. Beloved brother of Ben, Heather (Nick) Bihel, Brenda (John) Keating, Linda (Ray) McCormick, Dorothy (Greg) Gamble, Valerie, John (Cathy) and the late Gary. Also survived by sisters-in-law Rose Delottinville and Cass Watson and brother-in-law Tim (Maryanne).
Billy always had a joke ready and will be remembered for his wicked sense of humour. He always told it as it is. Originally from Cape Breton, Bill came to Ontario in the late 60's. He was Vice President of the Seafarers International Union (Great Lakes and Inland Waters) working at Union Halls in Thorold, Toronto, Thunder Bay and Halifax for many years. Bill was also the past President of the Hamilton Port Council and served on the Marine Advisory Board of Georgian College. After retiring in 2004, he became an avid cyclist, often with his loyal companion “Stewie" on board, and also volunteered at Meals on Wheels.
Cremation has taken place. Friends and family will be received at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Tuesday, January 8th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Memorial donations to the Walker Family Cancer Centre or to Meals on Wheels would be appreciated by the family.
May his final voyage be calm.
