Obituary of Robert Joseph Meunier

MEUNIER Robert J. Suddenly at 62 years of age we lost our loving husband, father, Papa, brother, Uncle and best friend to his wife, Terry. Who he always said he loved so much he married her twice, cherished father of Danielle and Neil (Floris) and most loving Papa to Taylor and Carson. The only boy to six sisters, Di Doucette, Lola Muzyka, Suzanne Bland, Louise Rivett, Lorraine Sills, Lise Suelze. And step-sister Barbie Stasiw. He was a one-of-a-kind Uncle to numerous nieces and nephews and a loving brother-in-law to Gord Rivett, Reinhard Suelze, Wendy and Ted Mellish (Mississauga) and Joy Martin (Raymond, Alberta) and Ben (Janice) Froese. Bob's focus and passion for the past 12 years was being a member of the Rankin Cancer Run. It was his great privilege to start the race each year. His days were filled with trying to promote this great cause. Bob was a retired Fire Fighter and Fire Prevention Officer with the St. Catharines Fire Services. After retiring he continued to voluntarily instruct children in Fire Safety at the Welland site of the Niagara Safety Village, primarily instructing for the French school children. Bob was a founding member of the St Catharines Roadrunners and Walkers. A tireless advocate for the Canadian Blood Services he would donate platelets every 2 weeks in Ancaster (300) donations as well as being a public spokesman for them. Bob recently became a fitness spokesperson for the Niagara Region to further promote his love of physical fitness. Among his many accolades he received the Queen's Jubilee Medal and the Rotary Clubs Paul Harris Fellow Award. All presented for his enthusiasm and devotion for helping his community and always believing "We could make our community better by giving back." Bob will mostly be remembered for his sunny, welcoming smile and his enthusiasm for doing all he could for his family, friends and community. A service to celebrate Bob's life will be held in the church on Tuesday, January 8th at 11 am. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, Bob would appreciate your donations be made to the Rankin Cancer Run to continue making it a bigger and better success on May 25th, 2013, 10 am at Grantham Lions Park, and if those attending the service could wear orange.
