BEDNAROWSKI, Sophie Theresa
Unexpectedly on December 2, 2012 in Las Vegas, Nevada at the age of 86.
Predeceased by her loving husband of Stanley and her sister Genia Filipowicz. Loving mother of Roman and his wife Barbara of Burlington and Mark and his wife Catherine of Dundas. Much loved grandmother of Krystina, Stanley, Andrea, and Alexandra. Dear sister of Jadwiga Wiszniowska and aunt of Grace, and Ryszard and his wife Diane.
Mrs. Bednarowski was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and the Polish Legion Branch #418 Ladies Auxillary.
Sophie was one of the hundreds of thousands of Poles forced from their homes on February 10, 1940 by the NKVD, and a survivor of one of the Soviet labour camps operating near Archangel during the Second World War.
Mrs. Bednarowski's family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Wednesday, December 12th from 6-8pm and on Thursday, December 13th from 6-8pm. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 5 Oblate Street, St. Catharines on Friday, December 14th at 10am. Cremation will follow the service. Vigil Prayers will be recited in the funeral home on Thursday at 7:30pm. If desired, memorial donations to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church-St. Catharines would be appreciated by the family.
