Obituary of John Peter Tyminski

TYMINSKI, John Peter L.T. Col. CD - Passed away on Sunday, December 16th, 2012 at the St. Catharines General Hospital at the age of 81. Beloved husband of Norah for 56 years. Cherished father of Michael (Mich), David and John (April). Loving grandfather of Nellie, Tara, Tayler, Brendan and Caitlin. Great grandfather of Sydney, Brynn and Owen. Brother of Robert (Janette) and the late Gloria (John) Hirst. John was an active member of St. Alfred's Church. He served 25 years with the Lincoln and Welland Regiment and he was the Commanding Officer from 1971 to 1974 and he was also a life member of the Lincoln and Welland Regiment Association. His last military duty was to take the farewell salute at the presentation of the new colours to the Regiment in September 2012. The family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Thursday from 2-4p.m. & 7-9p.m. Vigil Prayers will take place at 3p.m. on Thursday in the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Alfred's Church on Friday at 11a.m. Rite of Committal at Victoria Lawn Cemetery to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
