Obituary of Tomaso Evangelista

EVANGELISTA, Tomaso "Tom" Peacefully surrounded by his loving family, Tomaso passed away on Friday, January 17, 2014 at Niagara Gardens Retirement Manor at the age of 73. Beloved father of Jimmy, Linda, Danny (Carly) and Shamaree. Proud Nonno of Tommy, Patrick, Daniel, Augie and Sammy. Dear brother of Vittoria (Benedetto) Caporuscio. Tom is survived by his former spouse Marisa Evangelista, also by his many nieces and nephews. Tom was predeceased by his parents Amedeo and Matilda and by his brother Emilio "Smiley". Tom was born in Pignataro Interamna, Italy and immigrated to Canada in 1957. Tom resided in St. Catharines and worked at General Motors for 31 years, retiring in 1993. Tom was an avid gardener and he had a passion for sharing the fruits of his labour with his family and friends. A special thank you to his "family" at Niagara Gardens for their care and compassion. Tom's family will receive family and friends at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St. on Sunday, January 19, 2014 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Vigil prayers will be recited in the funeral home Sunday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Alfred's Roman Catholic Church, 272 Vine St. on Monday, January 20, 2014 at 1 p.m. Entombment to follow Mass at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations given to Hospice Niagara would be greatly appreciated by the family.
