Obituary of Douglas Theuerle

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Douglas Theuerle at age 68 on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 after a short illness. Doug leaves behind his loving wife Carol, children and stepchildren, James (Heidi) Theuerle, Angela (Alex) Post, Chris (Leanne) Chevrier, Craig (Ashley) Chevrier. He loved and enjoyed his grandchildren Ethan and Alannah Theuerle; Ari and Izaia Post; Liam and Emersyn Chevrier; Brady, Marley and Charley Chevrier. He is also survived by his sister Carol (Greg) Duff; brother-in-law Gilbert (Sherri) Sawin; sister-in-law Elena (Brian) McCormack; father-in-law Bernard Sawin and 6 nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Carl and Mary Theuerle, his mother-in-law Ruby Surridge & his granddaughter Scarlett Chevrier.


Doug was a Professional Mechanical Engineer and enjoyed a long career, ending with his retirement from General Motors, St. Catharines. He had many interests and hobbies throughout his lifetime which included photography, playing drums in a band, music, dancing, coaching baseball, golfing, fishing, woodworking, enjoyed vacationing at the time share in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida and wine tasting at wineries. He also could fix almost anything he put his mind to. He was a huge Buffalo Bills fan and shared his passion with his family and friends. Doug had a great sense of humour and told many great stories which we will all miss.


Cremation has taken place with Passfield Mortuary Services. A Celebration of Doug's life will be held at George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Sunday, April 7, 2024, 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. A sincere thank you to the staff at the Greater Niagara General Hospital and all the staff, nurses and doctors who took such good care of Doug at the Hotel Dieu Shaver Hospital.


In lieu of flowers a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society (Pancreatic Cancer Research) would be appreciated by the family.
