Antonio La Selva

Passed away at the St. Catharine’s General Hospital on March 10, 2024 in his 87th year.

Beloved husband of Grazia La Selva for 63 years.

Antonio was deeply beloved by his large family.
He was predeceased by his daughter Cecilia (Claudio) Riganelli and is survived by his children John (Tina) La Selva, Pina (Randy) Palleschi, Tony (Nadia) La Selva;  his grandchildren Steven (Kristine) La Selva, Nicole (Mark) Biamonte, Sandra (Jessi) Goodman, Patrick (Blaire) Riganelli, Lucas (Amanda) Palleschi, Jake Palleschi, Anthony La Selva, Teresa La Selva and 8 great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his cherished parents Cecilia and Giovanni La Selva.  He was the youngest of six siblings and was predeceased by Mariantonia (Michele) DeMeo, Guiseppe (Carmela) La Selva, Maria (Ernesto) Ferrante, Nicola (Guiseppina) La Selva of Argentina, he is survived by Filomena (the late Antonio ) De Lisio.

Antonio immigrated to Canada in 1958 from Castellino del Biferno, Provincia Campobasso, Italy.  He was a devoted husband and was dedicated to raising his 4 children. He ran his business as a plaster man before he retired in 1996.

He was a dedicated member of the Italian Community Centre and enjoyed playing bocce and cards with members there.  He enjoyed gardening, spending time with his family and keeping the Italian family traditions, such as caring for his fig trees, canning tomatoes and making sausage.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the staff at the Niagara Health System, St. Catharines Site, for their compassionate care.  We would also like to express our gratitude to all his wonderful neighbours for all the kindness and support they have provided throughout the years.

The family will receive friends at the George Darte Funeral Home & Cremation Centre 585 Carlton St. on Thursday, March 14th ffom 2-4 & 6-8p.m. Vigil prayers at 3pm. Funeral Mass on Friday morning at 11a.m. at St. Alfred Roman Catholic Church 272 Vine St. Entombment Victoria Lawn Cemetery. If so desired, donations made in Antonio's memory to NHS- St. Catharines Site would be appreciated.
