Eric Didemus

Obituary of Eric Alan Didemus

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the sudden and tragic passing of Eric Didemus on January 31, 2024. In the blink of an eye, this vibrant soul was taken from us, leaving behind his loving wife, Jenna (née Armiento) and his two precious children, Ethan and Everly. Loving son of Antonella (née Baiocco) and Alan Didemus, devoted brother to Alexa (Didemus) and Jordan Marra, and proud ZoZo and Godfather to Alessio Marra. Special son-in-law to Frank and Tracey (predeceased) Armiento, cherished brother-in-law to Julia (Rick Pinelli) and Alex (Katie Alton) Armiento, and wonderful uncle to Sadie Pinelli. Adored grandson of George (predeceased) and Eleanor Didemus and Donald (predeceased) and Rosa Baiocco, and dearest nephew and cousin to members of the Baiocco, Didemus and McGarry families.

Eric was more than the very best partner, father, son, brother, grandson, uncle, cousin and friend; he was a pillar of strength, kindness, and generosity. His warm smile and unwavering love touched the lives of all who knew him. Born in St. Catharines on December 19, 1991, Eric attended Denis Morris Catholic High School and continued his education at Brock and Western Universities, obtaining Honours degrees in Linguistics, Sports Management and Education.

Eric was passionate about hockey, both as a player and as a fan. All who knew him could attest to his lifelong and unwavering dedication to the Toronto Maple Leafs.  Eric had a wicked sense of humour and quick wit, always having a response that would make anyone laugh. He had an uncanny ability to recite lines from his favourite movies - The Grinch, Ace Ventura and Wayne’s World - and television shows - Friends, The Office and How I Met Your Mother. The list goes on and on. His quick reading skills coupled with his trivia knowledge made him a formidable opponent when watching Jeopardy or playing board games on family game nights. Those who knew him also knew of his love of all genres of music, but especially country music. He was known to frequently sing his favourite songs out of tune and loud for all to hear.

Eric, you will be forever loved, always missed and never forgotten by all whose lives you touched. Rest in peace until we meet again.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate and caring doctors and nurses in the Emergency and Intensive Care Units at the Niagara Health System in St. Catharines. All of your kindness and care is greatly appreciated. We would also like to express our gratitude to Father Stephen for the love and support you have continued to show to our families.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME 585 Carlton St. Catharines. A private celebration of life service will be held for immediate family only.
