Obituary of Lucy Kuczma

KUCZMA (Banasik), Lucy Gabriella - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Lucy Gabriella Kuczma on January 5th, 2024. Lucy peacefully passed at Hospice Niagara with her two sons at her side. Devoted wife of the late Paul Kuczma. Loving mother of Adam and Fiorella (Figari), Alex and Terra (Thorpe). Cherished Babci of Abigail, Cohen and Pierce. Cherished daughter of the late Walter and Gladys Banasik. Lucy was born on March 4, 1953.  She was the heart of the Polish community, a radiant spark who led with an incredible heart. Lucy dedicated herself tirelessly to her loved ones and the community, organizing Wawel dances, Miss Polonia events, Church choir performances, Community Open Houses, Street Festivals, and countless Cancer Society Fundraisers and more. She was always there, giving her very best and inspiring everyone around her to do the same. She was highly influential to the St. Catharines Polish Society.

Lucy loved dancing, travelling the world with her friends, photography, attending shows and concerts, hosting euchre tournaments, shopping, large wide brimmed hats and fascinators, beautiful ornate jewelry, fashion, antiquing, and yard/estate sailing with Paul. Lucy had a passion for organizing charitable fundraisers for breast cancer awareness and the Canadian Neuroendocrine Tumour Society (CNETS). You could always find Lucy dancing a polka or waltz at polka dances and festivals in Canada and the United States.

Arrangements have been made at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines. Visitation will take place on Monday, January 8 from 1:30p.m.- 4p.m and 6p.m - 8:30p.m. Vigil Prayers to be held at the 2p.m. in the funeral home.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, 5 Oblate St., St. Catharines, on Tuesday January 9, 2024 at 11a.m.  Interment at Victoria Lawn Cemetery to follow.  Friends and family are encouraged to wear a formal hat or fascinator to honour our beloved, and always fashionable mother. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to be made to the Canadian Neuro Endocrine Tumor Society (CNETS) or Hospice Niagara.
