Vito Passero

Obituary of Vito Carmine Passero

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Vito Passero, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and the visionary founder of Silvergate Homes Ltd.

Vito is predeceased by his beloved wife Victoria (1945-2011).

Born in 1937 to his late parents Giovanni and Ermelinda Passero, in the picturesque village of Castropignano, Italy along with 8 siblings, Nicolina (Pasquale (D)), Vince (D)(Tina), Gennaro (D)(Ofelia), Guiseppe (D)(Lilia), Maria (Adelio), Tina (Bruno (D), Ida (Vince), E.A. Tony (D)(Carmelina). Vito will also be missed by his surviving Brother-In-Laws and their families.

In 1959, he embarked on a journey of hope and opportunity, immigrating to Canada, where he eventually settled in the enchanting area of Niagara. Here, he would go on to build a life filled with love, family, and profound achievements.

In 1965, Vito married the love of his life, Victoria, forming a bond that would withstand the test of time and bring forth a beautiful family. Together, they nurtured and raised three children: John (Kelly), Michael (Shannon), and Susan (John), who now carry on their father's legacy. Vito was also blessed with the joy of six cherished grandchildren: Jonathan, Justin, Victoria, Elizabeth, Olive, and Rosemary, who brought endless laughter and happiness into his life.

Vito Passero was a man whose heart was as expansive as his dreams. His passion for family was unrivaled, and he reveled in the joys of being a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Beyond his devotion to his loved ones, Vito had a fervent love for golf, hobby farming (Passero Farms) and music, particularly his talents in playing the accordion and the organetto. His melodies would fill the air with an enchanting and heartfelt resonance that touched the souls of all who had the privilege of listening.

Vito's most enduring legacy lies in his cofounding of Silvergate Homes Ltd., along with his wife Victoria. He was more than just the leader of this esteemed company; he was the driving force behind its ethos and resounding success that earned him the recognition and honour of being NHBA’s first inductee to its hall of fame. His vision, unwavering commitment to excellence, and passion for creating homes of distinction have left an indelible mark not only on the industry but also on the lives of all who had the privilege of working alongside him.

As we mourn the loss of this remarkable man, we also celebrate a life that was filled with dedication, love, and achievement. Vito's legacy will forever be remembered and cherished by his family, friends, and colleagues. He set a strong foundation for Silvergate Homes, and it is upon this very foundation that we will continue to build and grow, honoring his memory by upholding the values and goals he held dear.

In our hearts, Vito Passero will forever remain the beacon of strength, love, and inspiration that he was in life. His legacy will continue to shine brightly, guiding us through the path he paved and reminding us to embrace our families, cherish our passions, and pursue excellence with unwavering dedication.
