Obituary of Leslie Butcher

Butcher, Leslie -Peacefully at Albright Manor on October 5th, 2017, at the age of 95. Loving and greatly cherished father of Laura Lesley Marchio( Pat) and George Bradford Butcher. Much loved Grandad of Julie Shannon- Scott( Gordie), Lisa Marie Moore( Scott) and Kathleen Elizabeth Currie( Justin) .  Very proud Great Grandad to Cole, Carson, Laurilee, Everleigh, Jack, Nicholas, Aidan and Ava. Also survived by his sister Doreen , and many nieces and nephews in both Canada and England.  Predeceased by " the Missus" his great love and wife Mary Patricia in 2008. Also predeceased by his mother Violet, father Joseph, stepfather John, sister Laura, and brothers, Joe and George.
Leslie received his RAF wings after training in Ponca City Oklahoma 1941, flying for the RAF, attaining the rank of warrant officer, transporting troops and training as a glider pilot in India until the end of the war in 1945. He married his beloved Pat in 1949 and immigrated to Canada where he has remained except for a one year duration back to England in 1954.
For many years He has  been an active member of the Royal Canadian Airforce Association, Niagara Falls, Wing 483. Leslie was also very involved with the St. Vincent  de Paul Society for many years volunteering much of his time to help those in need. He  also enjoyed many trips over the years to The British Isles, Western Canada and USA., an Alaskan cruise and most recently his granddaughters wedding In Cuba 2015.
The family would like to extend our thanks to the compassionate and caring staff at Albright Manor, Dr. Levesque and nurses at Walker Family Cancer Clinic, Dr. Shoebridge and Dr. Diana Ahmed at Albright Manor.
