Emilienne Massuet

Obituary of Emilienne Jeanine Massuet

Massuet, Emilienne - It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Emilienne "Mimi" Massuet at Hospice Niagara on Wednesday January 11, 2017. Mimi is survived by Paul, her beloved husband of 68 years. She is also survived by her son Philip (Sandy) and 4 grandchildren. Mimi was born in Tours, France to Marie Therese and Olivier Proux on December 6, 1924. Her life with Paul began after he returned from his war service in 1945. Mimi, a true Parisian, was a model for fashion houses Dior and Chanel. Her love of fashion and elegance was a lifelong passion and she used these talents as a fashion consultant at Holt Renfrew after she and Paul and their son Philip came to Canada in 1957. One of Mimi's proudest moments came when she founded a very successful Rotary Inner Wheel Club in St. Catharines. Although facing many health challenges in her final years, Mimi persevered right till the end. Her gracious manner endeared her to medical staff at Juravinski Cancer Centre and St. Catharines General Hospital where she was attended to with great expertise and compassion. During her final days, the staff and volunteers at Hospice Niagara ensured a pain-free, peaceful end to her final journey. Paul extends his sincere appreciation to all of her cargiviers for their wonderful support. The family will receive friends at the George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton Street on Saturday January 14, 2017 between 1-4pm. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Niagara in honour of Mimi's life.
