HEINZIG, Johanna "Joan" Passed away peacefully with her family by her side, on Monday, April 20, 2009 at the St. Catharines General Hospital-NHS, in her 85th year. Beloved wife of the late Ernest Heinzig (1994). Loving mother of Ella (David) Olsen of Duncan B.C., Catherine (Stephen) Dudgeon of Georgetown, Elizabeth (Doug) Wale of St. Catharines and Susan (Andrew) Turnbull of Mississauga. Joan was predeceased by her 2 daughters Barbara (Al) Zilio in 2000 and Teresa (Michael) DeRoche in 2002. Special Granny Joan to Paul Zilio, Jennifer Zilio, Ian Dudgeon, Peter Dudgeon, Jeremy Wale, Adam Wale, Michael Wale and Andrew DeRoche and their partners. Great grandmother of Victoria, Monica and Matteo Zilio, Andra and Colin Dudgeon, Samantha Wale. Dear cousin to Helen Snowdon of UK. Joan arrived in Canada as a War Bride in 1946, and resided in Manitoba and later moved to Orangeville where she lived for many years. When Joan moved to St. Catharines she became a parishioner at St. Alfred's Church. Joan is resting at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., until Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in St. Alfred's Church, 272 Vine St., on Saturday, April 25, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. Rite of Committal at Victoria Lawn Cemetery to follow service. Visitation will take place on Friday, April, 24, 2009 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Vigil prayers will be held in the funeral home Friday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. If desired, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Niagara Health System Foundation.
