Obituary of Sophia Elizabeth Romeo

Romeo, Sophia (nee: Bulanda): Gently with her son at her side at Henley House on Monday, March 29 at the age of ninety four. Loving wife of Vincent (Jimmy) 1991. Beloved mother of Louise(Don) of Queenston and Joseph(Mary) of Midlothian, Va. Dearly cherished grandmother of Sean (Halifax, Nova Scotia) and Tyler (Queenston). She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews and by her special god-daughter Mary Mollica. She was a life-long resident of Niagara and St. Alfred's Parish. Sophie was one of the first children christened at the newly formed Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, and was a long time member of the choir at St. Alfred's.She will be remembered by her family and friends for her gentle spirit, great sense of humour, love of music, her wonderful dinners, feistiness, and amazing ability to adapt. If life is about learning to dance in the rain, Sophie danced! Her beautiful smile lit the halls of Henley House where she resided for the last seven years.To the many angels who cared for her in health and sickness we extend our thanks. Her life will be celebrated with visitation on Tues. April 6 from 2-4 and 7-9p.m, at the George Darte Funeral Chapel 585 Carlton St. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. ALfred's Church 272 VIne St. at 9:30am. Cremation will follow and interment at a later date.Vigil prayers will be celebrated Tuesday at 7:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St Vincent de Paul (St. Alfred's), and Out of the Cold (St. Alfred's), if so desired.
