Obituary of Peter Walchuk Sr.

WALCHUK, Peter Sr. Passed away at Hotel Dieu Shaver on December 7, 2009 at the age of 75. Born in Aron, Saskatchewan, son of the late Lucy and Alex Wolchuk. Survived by his wife Valeida, loving father of Peter Jr. (Kathryn) and Danny (JoAnn). Dear grandfather of Bradley (Laura), Nathan and Matthew. Brother of Florence (Don) Zadko and Bill (Jill) Wolchuk. Peter is also survived by his nieces and nephews. He was employed by Niagara Parks Commission for 38 years. He managed Charles Daley Park from 1963 - 1989. Special Constable with the N.P.C. Police. Peter was an avid sports fan, loyal Ice Dogs supporter, member of St. Vincent de Paul (Cathedral) and Cub leader 9th pack. He played in various Euchre and Crib leagues. Family and friends will be received at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St. on Thursday December 10, 2009, from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Vigil prayers will be held at 4 p.m. in the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Cathedral of St. Catherine of Alexandria, St. Catharines on Friday December 11, 2009 at 9 a.m. with cremation to follow. Private family inurnment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations made to Hotel Dieu Shaver would be appreciated by the family.
