Obituary of Janina Data

DATA, Janina Passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Sunday, August 9, 2009, at Chateau Gardens in Niagara-On-The-Lake, in her 87th year. Janina joined her beloved husband in Heaven, Walter Data (1984). Loving mother of Richard (Helen) Data, Dianna (Michael) Miotto and Ben (Gail) Data. Cherished Babcia of Stephanie, Theresa, Danielle, David, Paula, Taylor, Griffin and Larson. Janina was born in Poland on July 9, 1923. In 1940 she made a courageous move to Germany and worked as a slave labourer during World War II. During her time in Germany, Janina met the love of her life, Walter and they were married in 1947. Janina arrived in Canada with their son in 1950 to join her husband in Kirkland Lake. In 1952 Janina and Walter settled on a farm in Niagara-On-The-Lake. Janina and Walter operated and cared for the farm until 1984, currently the farm is known as the Frog Pond Farm. In 1990 Janina moved to St. Catharines where she continued her involvement in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Polish Society and the Ladies Auxiliary. A special thank you to Dr. Reimer and Dr. Gruber for their attentive care and also to the staff at Chateau Gardens for their loving support of our mother for the past three years. Janina's family will receive family and friends at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., on Wednesday, August 12, 2009, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The Rosary and Prayers will be offered Wednesday evening at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 5 Oblate St., on Thursday, August 13, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Rite of Committal will follow Mass at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. If desired, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Diabetes Association.
