Hearfelt condolences to Leo's family. Leo was a friend of my brother Alf for many years. Leo was a kind person with a fun sense of humour and a pretty good baseball player. I have many fond memories of Leo and his mother. May he rest in peace.

Dear Phyllis -- and everyone in your family, including your husband's siblings and their families: I was out of the country when I heard the news about Leo's going home to God, and I've been keeping him (and yourselves) in my heart and my prayers ever since. This is truly difficult to hear, having spent a most enjoyable time with you both on the 2023 pilgrimage, taking us from Fatima to Montserrat and so many other places. I recall how many a time we conversed on that trip and how you benefitted from it spiritually, from what I could tell. I hadn't had much of a chance to visit with you since, so that's why the message I received (from Pearl) about Leo's death came as a great shock to me, not being aware of his health issues lately. I share the pain of losing such a faith-filled gentleman, one who put his faith into practice, one who served the community well in various capacities. Now he is reunited with his beloved family who have gone before him in faith. Be assured of my prayers for this man who impacted my life, and for all of you who deeply mourn this loss. (Fr.) Peter T. Rowe

To Leo's family; I am not surprised in the least to read the wonderful obituary the family has written for a most special man. I got to know Leo as our financial representative at Hotel Dieu Shaver. Leo, the most knowledge man in that regard but his humanity that touched people was even more present than that knowledge. His kindness and empathy filled a room. I am so sorry for your loss but I know how much love he received from his family and all those who knew him, that he is in the arms of the Lord and is a treasured servant to Him.

Our deepest sympathy to Phyllis and the family. We remember fun evenings on the lawn behind Leo's home, when the Knights of Columbus held bar-b-q events in the summer. They offered their beautiful home for many social & political events. "Well done, good and faithful servant...enter thou into the joy of thy Lord".

In the short time that I had known Leo, and you Phyllis, I felt welcomed and a part of a wonderful family at the Cathedral. You both sat with me at the port tasting night at the Cathedral last year; I barely knew anyone and had felt a little awkward and unsure of what to expect. What a wonderful evening I ended up having, and also learning about how you both met, and about your children and grandchildren. Such a welcoming connection. Thereafter, at Rosary, Leo would talk to me about the stories of the stain glass windows in the Cathedral as we were leaving or some other observation. He had such a gentleness about him, such sincerity and kindness and wisdom. I wanted to hear more in the short time that we had before we left every Monday night. He never showed that he was unwell. He was strong but humble. He had such a magnetism about him. and it was obvious that he was a true gentleman that one is lucky to cross paths with in this life. I am honoured to have known Leo, and my heart aches at his passing. May the Lord hold him tightly in His arms. Love to you Phyllis at this time and to all your family. . You know that he is not far away and will always be with you in spirit. May God bless you all and give you His peace. Amen.
Hugs
Sharon Gardner.

Martina,
My condolences to you, your mom, Genevieve, Bridget, Thomas and the rest of the family. Sad to hear of your father’s passing. Reading the obituary reminded me of all the things I remember your father for, and from our university days, I cannot see a GM Safari type van on the streets now without thinking of your parents, though maybe that was more Phyllis.
Take good care of yourselves during this difficult time.
