
Obituary of Andrew Joseph DeSouza
Andrew DeSouza passed away peacefully at St. Catharines General Hospital on February 14th 2025 at the age of 73. Loving husband of Debra for 50 years. Cherished father to Murray and Graham. Also missed by many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and close friends Wayne and Mick.
Born in Georgetown Guyana in 1951 to parents Alban and Carmelita DeSouza, Andrew grew up in a large family. He and his family immigrated to Canada in the early 1960s. Andrew graduated from Cedarbrae High School as an Ontario Scholar and went on to graduate as a Chemical Engineer from the University of Waterloo. During university, Andrew met the love of his life Debbie. His career in pulp and paper spanned until his retirement in 2010, working for Domtar, Gallagher and Tembec paper companies. Andrew was an avid sports fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and Maple Leafs. He enjoyed coaching his sons Murray and Graham in hockey and baseball.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME 585 Carlton St. Catharines. A visitation will be held at 12pm on Friday, February 21st with a celebration of life directly following at 2pm in the funeral home chapel. Following the ceremony, guests are invited to a reception on the main floor of the funeral home.
