Obituary of Elizabeth Jane Perrone Coholan
COHOLAN, Elizabeth Jane "Betty" (nee Guichon)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth (Betty) Coholan on February 3, 2025 at Ina Grafton Gage Village, in her 97th year. She was predeceased by her loving husband Frank Coholan (2021). She was the cherished mother of Ned (Barb), Mary Jane (Bryan), Peggy (Richard), Gerry (Harriet), Jim (Agnes), John (Darlene), Liz, Tommy, and Michael (Katia). She also leaves behind her loving grandchildren Erin (Blair), Christopher (Lauren), Donny (Christa), Joey (April), Peter, Katie (Ryan), Danny, Brandon, Kathleen, Francheska, Liam (Kim), Elena (Chester), Adam (Alicia) and Frank, along with seven great grandchildren. She will be missed by her dear sister Lorraine.
She is also predeceased by her parents Felix and Ruth, her brother Jack and sister Marilyn.
Betty was born in Vancouver, B.C and grew up in Ladner B.C. She received her RN degree at St. Paul’s Hospital also in Vancouver. She worked at that same hospital as well as in Pasadena, California. She moved to St. Catharines with Frank to find her new home and to raise their family. She was a deeply faithful woman and was a member of St. Julia’s Church and the C.W.L. for many years. Betty was quite accomplished in her knitting and sewing but was especially passionate about quilting and belonged to the Quilters Guild. For many years she played and enjoyed the game of bridge, belonging to various Duplicate Bridge organizations. In her later years she and Frank enjoyed travel abroad. But her favourite place to travel was back in B.C. to visit with her extended family.
Betty took great pride in her home life but more than anything it was her family that she found her joy!
Visitation will be held at George Darte Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 585 Carlton St.on Tuesday February 11th, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Her Funeral Mass will be held at St. Julia’s Church 251 Glenridge Ave. at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 12th and her burial at Victorian Lawn Cemetery to follow.
We would like to thank Hospice Niagara and Ina Grafton for their wonderful care over these last several months. She was so fortunate to have so many caring people looking after her.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Community Living Grimsby, Lincoln and West Lincoln or Hospice Niagara would be greatly appreciated.
