Obituary of Shelley Dawn Darlene Gibb
Shelley Gibb Dec 26 1955 - Dec 18 2024
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Shelley Dawn Gibb (nee Spence) peacefully, at St Catharines General Hospital on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at the age of 68. She was surrounded by her loving family after a short illness.
Devoted wife to Chris Majcher, cherished mother of Courtney McPherson (Jeremy McPherson) and Ashley Gibb (Don Hysert) and loving Nana to Ariel, Addison, Logan, Locklyn, Jaiden , Autumn and Alison.
Predeceased by her parents, David and Jean Spence and survived by two brothers, Rodney (Libbie) and Kim (Eric) Spence as well as Jeanie/Paul Majcher (Mother/Father-in Law) and sisters in law Kim (Steve) and Tracy (Steve).
Shelley's true gift was giving to others. She dedicated over 30 years to the CBSA (Canada Border Service Agency). Shelley took her experience and became a CBSA instructor in Rigaud, Quebec and then at Mohawk College in Hamilton, finally retiring in 2023. Having the opportunity to see her students pursue their passion and supporting them in their journey meant the world to her.
Shelley enjoyed spending time with family and friends whether it was cooking up a storm, hosting a party or simply just enjoying a glass of wine poolside and engaging in entertaining conversations with her friends.
Shelley was very much a snowbird and loved vacationing at her home in Florida over the winter or summer months where she spent time with her Calusa Palms family. Just sitting on her lanai resulted in pure enjoyment for her. Having the opportunity whenever or wherever she could to take in the palm trees , ocean , sunsets or sunrises.
She was a nana that enjoyed baking , cooking, playing games and making art with or for her grandchildren. Holidays were a special time for Shelley's grandchildren whether it was making sure her lawn was filled with massive amounts of Easter eggs or simple sleepovers to decorate her Christmas tree. Seeing her grandchildren grow and reach many different milestones and celebrating special occasions along the way brought so much joy. If Shelley was not able to be with her grandchildren, she would always say " Tell them I love them and give them hugs and kisses for me!".
The family would like to give a special thank-you to the nurses and doctors who supported Shelley in her final moments.
Shelley (Hi Babe! ) was known for her beautiful smile, quick wit and genuine interest in conversations and will be sadly missed by many.
