Obituary of Erwin Arthur Sackfie
Erwin Arthur Sackfie
January 25, 1935 – November 19, 2024
It is with heavy hearts and loving memories that we announce the passing of Erwin, who peacefully passed away on November 19, 2024. Erwin was a cheerful, optimistic, and generous soul, always quick to share a laugh and brighten the day of those around him. He was a man who was grateful and found joy in the simple things—tending to his garden, playing his guitar, enjoying a game of cards, watching a game of curling and basking in the warmth of a sunny day.
Erwin was married to Jeanette for 54 years, and together they raised two children, Sharon (Mark) Millar and Bruce (2005). He was a cherished Grandpa to Kevin Millar, Brent (Sybil) Millar, and Callie (Mike) Smith, and a proud Great-Grandpa to Madden, Livia, and Hailey.
Erwin was born into a family of 12 in Jansen, Sask and worked at General Motors in St. Catharines for 34 years grinding brake shoes and later as a sweeper and chip man.
Erwin resided at Maple Park Lodge for the last 10 yrs, where he received wonderful and compassionate care. He loved it there. His musical talents shone through as he shared his guitar and love of country music with fellow residents, bringing light and joy to all.
A celebration of Erwin’s life will be held at the Ridgeway Legion on January 25, 2025, on what would have been his 90th birthday. The evening will feature a celebration of his life promptly at 4 pm followed by dinner and country music, celebrating the way Erwin would have wanted.Erwin Arthur S
