Obituary of Donald Tytler

TYTLER, Donald George

Passed away at NHS - St. Catharines on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at the age of 85. Beloved husband of Carolyn (nee Cameron). Loving father to Christopher Tytler (Jenn Anderson), Kim Tytler (Michael Hicks). Devoted stepfather of Bill Custers (Susan Smiley), Jack Custers (Lena), Marilyn Custers and Curtis Custers. Proud grandfather of Adam Hicks, Heather Custers, and Joshua Custers. Dear brother of Gary, the late Robert, the late James, and the late David. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends.

After serving in the Royal Navy, Don retired from a career in administration with the Canadian Federal Government. Don will be remembered for his interest in world affairs, his love of animals, his passion for fishing, and above all else, for his love of his family. The family wishes to thank the management, staff and the volunteers at Linhaven (Dalhousie Unit) for their care of Don over the last three years. Special thanks to Liz and Brett, who were not only caregivers but also friends.

Visitation will be held at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Tuesday, July 23 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Vigil prayers will be recited in the funeral home on Tuesday at 3 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Alfred Roman Catholic Church, 272 Vine St., St. Catharines on Wednesday, July 24 at 11 a.m. Cremation will follow the funeral. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society (St. Alfred's Church) or the Lincoln County Humane Society.
