Obituary of Carmela D'Addario
D'ADDARIO, Carmela (nee Donatelli) - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved and cherished mother, Nonna and Bisnonna. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at Tabor Manor Nursing Home on Tuesday July 1, 2025 at the age of 91. Loving wife of 56 years to the late Giovanni D’Addario (2011), beloved mother of Enzo (Dominica), Mary (Gino), Rita (Robert) and Tony (Christine). Adored Nonna of Stephanie (Kurtis), Karina, Alexander (Paige), Joshua (Leah), Daniel (Hayley), Luke, Sean, Gabriel, Matthew, TJ, and Bisnonna of Luka. Carmela is predeceased by her parents Vincenzo and Nicola (nee Gabriele) Donatelli, her brothers Angelo, Luigi, Domenico and sister Addolorata. Carmela was born on October 27, 1933 in Limosano, Campobasso, Italy. In 1966, she immigrated to Canada with her three children Enzo, Mary (Concetta) and Rita to be reunited with her husband Giovanni, who came the previous year. They settled in St. Catharines, where they welcomed their fourth child Tony. She was the matriarch of the family, always there to support us and provide a loving home. She was warm, loving, and caring, with a kind and gentle nature. Mom will be remembered for her incredible baking and cooking and keeping a meticulous home. She treasured family gatherings. Nothing made mom happier than having Sunday meals with her family, which always ended with coffee and a tray full of her famous cookies - she always made sure we never left her home empty handed. Carmela was a devout catholic and a member of St. Alfred’s Parish. She will be remembered affectionately by all her family, including her sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. We are comforted knowing that mom has been reunited with dad in heaven. We would like to sincerely thank the staff at Tabor Manor for their exceptional care and compassion. Their kindness, patience and dedication meant so much to our family during a very difficult time. Friends are invited to join the family at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines, visiting Sunday July 6, 2025 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. Vigil prayers will be held at 3 pm at the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday July 7, 2025 at 9:30 am at St. Alfred Church, with the Rite of Committal to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery, where she will be reunited with her beloved husband. In memory of Carmela, memorial contributions may be made to The Alzheimer Society Niagara, and would be appreciated. Online condolences at www.georgedartefuneralhome.com
