Obituary of Elizabeth MacNeur
Elizabeth MacNeur, a devoted servant of the Lord, was called home to eternal rest after a brief hospital stay. Surrounded by the love of family and friends, Elizabeth's passing leaves a void in the lives of those who knew her. Born in the village of Poolewe, Scotland in 1925, Elizabeth grew up with a strong faith that guided her through life's joys and challenges. In 1958, she immigrated to Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada with her husband William, before settling in St. Catharines, where she built a life filled with love, service, and community. Elizabeth's life was marked by her devotion to her family, her church, and her neighbors. As a mother, she instilled in her children the values of kindness, compassion, and faith.
Though she was predeceased by her parents, Angus and Mary Cameron, her husband William Sr. in 1985, and her children, William in 2013 and Ruth in 2014, her legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched. Elizabeth is survived by her sisters, Ina Ross and Mary Grant of Scotland, many nieces and nephews, and her son-in-law Mark Bird. Her commitment to her faith was evident in her dedication to Trinity United Reformed Church, where she was the oldest member and a faithful volunteer at the Mission Thrift Store. In her later years, Elizabeth found comfort and community at Martindale Place, where she was surrounded by caring staff and residents who became like family to her. As Elizabeth departs this life, we take comfort in the promise of Psalm 23:6, "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." May Elizabeth's memory inspires us to live lives of faith, hope, and love, and may her legacy of kindness and service continue to touch the hearts of all who knew her.
